Laura Markowitz

I've helped scores of clients over the years as a substantive (developmental) editor and ghostwriter on a wide range of projects crossing many genres.

I came to freelance editing from journalism, where I worked as a magazine editor for 15 years, wrote a syndicated newspaper column, and published dozens of feature articles in mass-market and niche magazines, including Glamour, Utne Reader, Mademoiselle, Tricycle, Self, Ms, Australian Cosmopolitan, and more. My writing was recognized with a National Magazine Award and I've also won multiple awards for editing over the years. (Click here to see a selection of my clips.)

My book credits include coauthor of Voices On the Economy,  co-editor of two books on mental health, and Principal Editor of a book about the Iran-Contra Affair. My young adult novel, Book of the Sky God, was published in 2012.

In addition to writing and editing, I'm a Contributing Producer for Arizona Public Media, Tucson's NPR and PBS stations. I also produce videos for clients who want to document and tell their stories through multimedia

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. Please don't hesitate to email me if you have more questions. I look forward to helping you with your project!
